Inigo Motowa kicked back, as best he could considering the somewhat cramped quarters he was in. The Black Hawk swooped low over the city, moving fast ever since the chopper that had been hit during the Redfield Operation, as he called it. It would drop them off, and get out of range as fast as possible. It limited heavy support options a bit, but it kept the ride out safe. There were a good dozen other mercenaries in the chopper, eyeing each other warily even though the briefing had introduced them and their goal. They had to get in and hold a strong point in the city to cover another operation that would further the goal of wiping out the infected in the city. He had already checked off several of the mercenaries as dead on arrival, they were fresh faced, barely out of boot camp he suspected. They would provide the meat shield for the veterans, who would provide the real resistance. Even then, most of them would die, they didn't have the firepower. Mostly assault rifles, a few SMG's, and his SAW M249. He suspected he would have the highest tally in kills.
The pilot waved his hand, giving the five minute signal. The designated leader, a guy named McCoy, stood up and briefed them.
"Alright Mercs, you know full well your jobs. I want Motowa on the roof with the SAW, and covering the main lane. Everyone else, disperse and make sure ALL the entrances are barricaded. And for the love of god, watch for the Kipepeo, saw more then one man get dragged off by a swarm of those things. They fly too, so if you here the warning of them, look UP. Thats mainly for you Motowa, your most exposed. So watch your back, yea?"
Inigo smirked, nodding and racking the slide of his SAW. The others went through gear checks. The pilot called for the ropes to be dropped, and they rappled down to the roof. As soon as the last mercenary was clear, the ropes were pulled up, and the chopper made a fast run for the safe zone. Both to refuel and get ready to fly in supplies, if necessary. Most of the mercenaries were scattering to through the building, as Inigo set up at the edge of the building. They had a rough idea where the tangos would be coming in from, so they set up facing that way. It was down the main lane, they had set up in what appeared to be a three story hotel of sorts. The first of the Majini were picked off by the sharpshooter on the second floor, but soon they were gathering out of his range. A massive swarm was coming.
With a collective yell, they came sprinting down the two lanes, brandishing hand sickles, clubs, wrenches, long pipe staffs, and he swore he saw dynamite sticks and Molotov Cocktails. The sniper took them out as fast as he saw them, causing casualties to those near the bearers. The grunts, the ones carrying the assault rifles and mid ranged weapons, opened up, blowing holes in the advance. Finally they reached the inner kill zone, and Inigo had just put in his iPod headphones. Turning on some heavy metal, he grinned as he opened up with the SAW. 1000 rounds per minute, larger then normal boxes, and plenty of targets. Plus the music, made it perfect. A crossbow bolt flew by his head, tearing out one earbud, and he scowled at the offending Majini, and blew him to pieces as he swept the crowd.
The gun clicked, and he went through the motions to reload. The chopper had dropped quite a few boxes of ammo with him, so he had no worries about running out. He had reloaded, and was firing again, but they were getting closer. Plus some of them were getting those mutations out of their head. The heavy metal was hitting the good part, and then the cries of fliers went up. He spotted them, flying over the crowd of Majini, and sprayed at them, gunning them down as well as any Majini unlucky to be under the flying mutations. They were holding well, over an hour, until things suddenly collapsed. Most of the grunts had ran out of ammo, and the Majini swarmed the barricades. The order to fall back came as they tore at the second story barricades.
Firing at the crowd pouring in, he turned at the yelling. They were pushing onto the roof. He grabbed two more boxes of ammo, collapsed the bi-pod of his gun, and ran to the edge of the roof. He jumped the short distance, landing and moving again. They would follow him, and he knew it. Plus the flyers would be finishing with the overrun position soon, and he had to get to ground before then. He found a ladder down, and slid down it, landing in a back ally. Inigo checked both ways before heading towards the designated LZ. His job was done, he held until the order came to run, and now it was time to get out. He suspected it wouldn't be that easy. But he had guns, explosives, and heavy metal music, so he was good to go. Inigo needed a place to catch his breath and check his location, he didn't need to get lost in this place.
