The T-Phobos Virus was a variant of the T-virus developed by Alex Wesker shortly after the death of Umbrella CEO Oswell E. Spencer. It was named after Phobos, the Greek god of fear.
Development In his waning years, Spencer ordered Alex to research a method through which he could become immortal, sending Alex to a secret island to conduct the experiments, along with thousands of test subjects. However, after years of supposed experimentation, Alex and her men fled the island having siphoned out resources from Spencer. Alex then set her new base on Zabytij Island, where she conducted another experiment, this time Alex created a new virus named t-Phobos Virus.
As late as November 2009, the virus was still undergoing prototype tests, with people being infected to test it out. By this month, the virus was engineered to mutate in response to stress. Alex had eleven candidates fitted with sensor bracelets as part of an experiment to measure how long it would take for people to mutate, with three dying immediately and another eight mutating some time after.
By January 2010, work on the virus was nearing completion. By that time, the chances of it killing infected was lowered.
