| Ecliptic Express
The Ecliptic Express was a first-class, inter-city luxurious train. It was owned by the Umbrella Corporation, with its train number being 7268-563-M23. It runs from Raccoon City to the Arklay Research Facility.
Its interior expressed its status. The train had six carriages - a kitchen with cargo room, a bar and saloon, and four carriages with exquisite beds and a dining room.
However, the Ecliptic Express was made into a train of the dead, as Dr. James Marcus released the Tyrant Virus on the train on July 23, 1998 - the Arklay Incident. The train was quickly overrun and all the passengers - Umbrella Corporation researchers - and crew were turned into blood-thirsty zombies.
The train was rebuilt even better then the first,

he island population consisted mostly of a mixture of assorted workers, trainees, guards, attendant staff and prisoners. During the outbreak, all bar a handful became zombies. A native population is mentioned in files, but have seemingly been wiped out by the time of the outbreak.

n late 2008, the Tricell Pharmaceutical Company began operations in the region, slowly releasing multiple genetically-enhanced forms of Las Plagas throughout the area. By early 2009, the increasing xenophobia and active racism against non-natives spread the plagas quickly through those willing to spread it and those forced to be impregnated with it.
The military was sent in to stop any further spread by having a large wall built around the destabilized zone, cutting through a large portion of the region.
The B.S.A.A., under command of Chris Redfield, was sent in originally to stop the supposed smuggling of materials by TriCell employee Ricardo Irving, only to be faced with the threat of the plaga-infected Majini and the mysterious Uroboros project.
